Dhaka: Malaysia will start to take workers from Bangladesh very soon. The process has already been finalized. Government sources says, their demands may come later this month.
Officials are saying that, The whole process of sending those workers will be done through online under the G-2-G plus agreemnet between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
By doing this online, they are expecting that the whole process will be crystal clear. The Database of the government along with private recruiting agencies will pick the workers.
When asked, the expatriates' welfare and overseas employment Minister Mr. Nurul Islam BSC told Dhaka Times that, "we can't tell whether the requisition will come this month or not but the processing is underway.
Malaysian government told us, they are very sincere and they will start the process as quickly as possible"
While replying to a quesion the Honorable Minister said that, "Those problems which arose in the case of sending workers to malaysia in the past, won't be bother this time around.
In the new system, the private sectors can send workers too."
Malaysia is a particular labor market for bangladeshis. But Malaysia had stopped recruitment from Bangladesh in 2009.
Then from 2013, under G2G agreement they were started taking workers but only for plantaion sector.
However the rate of sending workers wasn't so satisfactory thus along with the government private sectors had also began the process of sending workers.
At last 18th of february 2016, the Bangladesh government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Malaysian government in Dhaka.
Under the G2G plus agreement, around 1.5 million Bangladeshi workers could have been sent to Malaysia through publicly and privately in the field of services, construction, agriculture, plantation and manufacturing sectors in the next three years.
Unfortunately, on the very next day Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad zahid hamidi announced that their government had decided to suspend the recruitment of all foreign workers to Malaysia, including those from Bangladesh.
And after a few months in May 2016, Dr. Zahid Hamidi announced to withdraw that decision to not take foreign workers.
Secretary of BAIRA General Mohammad Ruhul Amin told Dhakatimes that, "Malaysian government's previous decision to not take foreign workers has already been withdrawn. Week ago, the Malaysian government has listed Bangladesh as a source country.
At present, there is a huge demand for foreign workers in Malaysia.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry officials told Dhakataimas that, when we start sending workers under the agreement of G-2-G plus then the harassment of workers will be over completely.
Also recriting agencies can't cheat with anyone even if they want. Moreover, employees will not have to wait for months.
Because, The receipt of calling visa (VDR) will be completed within 24 hours to a week.
Secretary of BAIRA also told that, "Recruitment agencies will ensure maximum transparency of the selection of workers. Before, workers had suffered a lot because of medical examination.
Now there won't be any suffering anymore. After the initial verification tests at the medical center, if any worker become ineligible in medical examination then he or she will not be allowed. So, Employees don't have to spend money unnecessarily."
Expatriates' Welfare Ministry sources said to Dhaka Times that, as a result of the appropriate medical tests, the rate of unfit people return backs will reduce. Also The medical report will not be given hand to hand. Instead it will be sent to Malaysia via online.
Before workers couldn't get the full benefits of insurance. As a result, they were deprived of medical care and compensation benefits. From now on, the insurance will be assure through online even before the workers go to Malaysia.
A senior ministry official said to Dhakatimes that, Under the agreement of G2G plus the work permit of the employees will be renewed by the employer organization itself. If the owners do not want to renew the work permit then the Immigration Department will be notified by them through online.
There is no scope of forgery of the Work Permit. Alongside there is no chance of issuing "Double visa'.
Because all the information of visa will be online. Employer organizations will not be able to apply more than the prescribed number of visa.
On the Agreement the issue of workers'compensation has been seriously considered.
If any worker dies at work or cripple due to an accident then his closed ones must receive compensation.
Manpower export related multiple sources informs us that, whenever workers were abused by employers in the past, or didn't get the wages, they couldn't find a way of making a complaint to the appropriate authorities.
This will not happen anymore. Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia can go to One Stop Center (OSC) in any of it's cities
to register the specific charges against the employer. Later OSC will inform the Labor Department of Bangladesh Embassy in Malaysia to take action.
BAIRA sources also told Dhakatimes that, in order to get a visa workers must have to send their bio-data, passport, medical records, photographs, biometric data to the Malaysian Employers organization.
